Aftermath Liturgy
By Min Kahng
Commissioned by Contemporary Asian Theater Scene
A one-person show staged as a post-church worship service, complete with a bulletin for notes, projected lyrics, and live music that invites the audience to sing along and participate. Part ritual, part intimate storytelling, the piece explores what remains after a belief system dissolves — the grief, the clarity, and the complicated longing for a faith you can no longer access in the same way. Inspired by Min Kahng’s own journey out of evangelical Christianity, Aftermath Liturgy becomes a communal space to grapple with the aftermath of any worldview shaken awake.
Aftermath Liturgy is still in its early stages of development. For updates on the next phase of progress for this project, please sign up for my monthly newsletter.
